ABSTRACT

This book rests upon the earlier scholarship, which has laid the groundwork for the theorization and exploration of Global Englishes. It provides a wide range of theoretically grounded teacher learning activities to support the integration of Global Englishes into teacher education practices. For that purpose, it first includes a brief theoretical background in the following areas: the global spread of English and Global Englishes Language Teaching (GELT) pedagogy (Galloway & Rose), language teaching methods and instructional materials in Global Englishes (Selvi & Bayyurt), Global Englishes and teaching culture (Kubota), language assessment in Global Englishes (Hu), curriculum development in Global Englishes (Marlina). Second, it offers a variety of activities that teacher educators can use as part of their work with pre-service and in-service teachers of English across the world. Ultimately, we hope this book serves as an essential resource promoting the praxization of a language teacher knowledge base for Global Englishes.
