ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book hopes to offer quick and easy solutions to issues one may encounter in their practical Physical Education lessons, helping one to become more confident in both their planning and delivery. A number of practitioners may also be concerned with ‘getting things wrong’ or in some cases ‘causing offence’. These thoughts are perfectly natural and people cannot possibly get it right all the time. When they do make mistakes, it is important to apologise and learn from it. One could argue that there is a place for various models in education; however, teachers simply need to be aware how these models may influence the way they engage with young people in their class. Labels are useful, but sometimes one could argue that they do more harm than good.
