ABSTRACT

The focus of this chapter is on untying the migration knot between the EU and Africa using Trade Agreements as a vehicle. This chapter argues that addressing the root cause of many migration patterns, which are usually socio-economic and conflict-driven, would go a long way in unravelling the dependency links between EU and Africa by embarking on intense advocacy for youth engagement in the agribusiness value chains would be more instrumental to curbing the transboundary-continental crossing. It further argues that trade can be an instrument for providing bespoke opportunities for youth employment with governmental intervention in the areas of market access, capacity building and the introduction of innovative technology in the agricultural value chain.
