ABSTRACT

First, it aims at discussing the influence of the social dynamics triggered by the spread, clash, and competition between socio-political forces on the constitution, constitutional law, and constitutional order. Second, it seeks to explore how constitution and constitutional law produce and maintain order or lead to disorder as a result of the impact of socio-political conflict and conflictual or consensual constitutional dynamics. Moreover, the book provides for critical assessment of the socio-economic determinants of peace and discontent related to both conceptual issues such as the 'material constitution' and different sector-specific reforms of the welfare state having important constitutional implications. Special attention is devoted to peace and discontent in the EU constitutional order. The problems of peace and discontent are researched not only with a view to the EU level, with regard to which the material constitution of the EU is explored.
