ABSTRACT
This chapter provides the results of a comparative analysis of the discourses on innovations in the cities of our enquiry. The information made available by the collected documents for analysis of the total period allows well-founded statements to be made about the narrative patterns that dominate in the local discourses examined. The situation with regard to the use of communicative mechanisms is different. The percentage of coded material in the corpus of documents collected for Bensheim is much higher than in the other German cities analyzed with regard to this dimension of narration. In Kalamata, the construction of challenges and problems emerges as the most influential feature of the local narrative pattern. “Locals” and “new arrivals” also interact effectively in Bensheim in a form different from the “alliance of doers”—namely, rather occasionally. Frankfurt has many similarities with Leipzig.
