My question to Veronica Strang: how far does the existence of the MRWCWG contribute to the boundedness of the identities of the groups concerned, and to what extent do you think that ‘social multiplicity’ is exclusively a feature of modernity? Might we not expect such performed and negotiated group identities to exist in other contexts as well?
