ABSTRACT

As is the case with other top primary schools in Beijing, Elite Primary School (EPS) is renowned for its academic standards. Still, although EPS prioritized exams and grades just like other EPS, it had a relatively lenient attitude towards discipline. Top primary schools in Beijing are famous for their outstanding academic performance and strict discipline. In schools of this kind, we might expect to find a collection of truly outstanding, highly disciplined children. Wu Hao was recognized to be one of the three most taoqi students in his class, both by class teachers and students. And he was also well known to the deputy principals and to the head teacher of the fourth grade as a student who was 'without rules or discipline'. The Chinese terms for discipline include guan and guanjiao. It is very common to hear teachers or parents talking about guan haizi.
