ABSTRACT
This chapter addresses the value that may be found in applied anthropology for public policy and industry. It presents the story that led the author to the aforementioned discipline and tropical forests. It then illustrates what the author’s work in an energy company – Electricité de France – consists of, providing insights into the development of solar energy as it is experienced by the inhabitants and addressing the social value and practical implications of anthropology in the world.
