ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the editors discuss the creation and rationale for this volume—focused on revisiting critical and emancipatory constructs related to race, social justice, and education presented. We then situate our discussion of theoretical whitewashing within historical and geographic trends and patterns. We comment on our own need for theoretical and scholarly reflexivity as editors and as chapter authors. Finally, we provide a brief review of the chapters that follow and highlight the anti-racist agenda presented across the text.
