ABSTRACT

This chapter reflects on the company’s creative process and the tenth show of the company. The Heliopolis Theatre Company’s artistic research has always been based on the experience of being on the outskirts, and the search for the visibility and expression of one’s own voice. The Heliopolis Theatre Company was supported three times by the municipal programme for the development of theatre in the city of São Paulo, a grant established by Law 13.279/02 of which the objective is to financially support the creation and maintenance of projects for continuing research and theatrical production carried out by professional groups. The creative and pedagogical process that resulted in the play Subtle Violent revealed the ethical and aesthetic maturation of the Heliopolis Theatre Company. Perhaps one of the great achievements of the Subtle Violent process was precisely the emancipation of peripheral, migrant, persecuted bodies and their reallocation as scenic-citizens, as non-submissive bodies, sensitive and endowed with their own expressiveness.
