ABSTRACT

It was the unicorn, a fantastical animal represented in the form of a horse, usually white, with a large spiral horn in the centre of its head, a fascinating creature present in diverse mythologies throughout the ages, that inspired the creation of a theatrical performance in 2017 by a group of adolescents and facilitators from the university extension programme, Theatre in Communities. The aim of the game was that a musician would improvise sounds to inspire the adolescents’ imagination. At the end of the activity, everyone had to draw and report what they had imagined. The creative processes developed within scope of the programme sought to favour the emergence of a scene from the collective in question, a performance born from dialogue established between the facilitators and community. In a humorous moment of the piece, one of the boys became the crush most wanted by the others, girls and boys, bringing to the fore the debate on gender and sexuality.
