ABSTRACT

The heat and the rain mark each season. Naturally, the cattle movements within the farm depend on them, the health of the animals, the number of inputs we need to keep them well fed. But also, the quality of sleep and the intensity of sleepless nights depend on the heat and rain. The feeling of vulnerability in the countryside is permanent. The joys, the health of the animals, and the income of the business depend on many factors that are out of the hands. The heat and the rain weave together every conversation about the evolution and current situation of livestock. Heat and rain are always subject to the same phrases: Each year, it is warmer for longer; every year, it rains less. In recent years, we have learned to look at contour lines to bring water to the different paddocks.
