ABSTRACT

Rayne is a beautiful young dancer in her early adolescence. With a sister also in dance, her whole family is heavily involved and very supportive of Rayne’s hopes and dreams on the “marley”. Rayne started dancing later than many, joining her first dance class at six years old. Early on, Rayne was a bit uncoordinated and had to work hard to find the lines she needed to look the way her teacher did. Rayne’s competition season came and went, and she scored well at each, often placing in the top five, if not the top three, soloists. Watching her daughter, Rayne’s mother started learning the cues immediately prior to Rayne’s gagging. Rayne had done an exquisite job hiding her urge to throw up, sometimes playing it off as intentional choreography to contract a bit harder or exhale a touch more forcefully.
