ABSTRACT
Jane is a 32-year-old highly experienced female wheelchair basketball player with over 12 years of playing experience since acquiring her disability during a skiing accident. The accident resulted in a spinal cord injury causing her to have to use a wheelchair for daily mobility as well as for playing wheelchair sports including wheelchair tennis and basketball. Jane is not the current captain of the team and genuinely embraces this, recognizing that there are younger, “up and coming” players who need the opportunity to hold that position. Jane captained her National side during a major World level competition and it was around that same time that she first noticed the decrease in her performance with her free throw shooting ability.
