ABSTRACT

Design is central to the learning sciences, covering a wide range of foci and approaches to research. In this chapter, we introduce the Design section of the book by discussing the methodological, epistemological, ontological, and axiological shifts in the design work in the Learning Sciences, and the four chapters invited to engage in scholarly conversations on these multifaceted aspects of design. We argue that this section collectively represents important discussions in the field by provoking conversations and pushing the boundaries of our scholarship.
