Cory Doctorow is a prolific author and co-author, as well as having served as the co-editor of https://BoingBoing.net" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">BoingBoing.net (2000–20) and maintaining https://Craphound.com" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">Craphound.com, an archival repository of his works, which he publishes under Creative Common licenses and which are free to share, and https://Pluralistic.net" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">Pluralistic.net, which serves to post links and trivia. Doctorow’s writing, both fictional and journalistic, deals with current information technologies and their impact on society and personal rights, making him one of the most important cyberpunk authors of the twenty-first century. In his work, Doctorow advocates for a free and decentralized internet and has been vocal about a socialist approach to the next economy, which prioritizes people over profits, file sharing rights for all, and a post-scarcity economy. In addition, Doctorow advocates for alternative uses for technology and the free expression of human creativity, particularly evident in his young adult (YA) fiction, such as the interlinked Little Brother (2008), Homeland (2013), and Attack Surface (2020). Reflecting a cyberpunk sensibility updated for the twenty-first century, Doctorow continues to support hacker and protest groups who resist a surveillance state seemingly inspired by Orwellian government and corporate interests.
