ABSTRACT

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the European Union (EU) have evolved under different historical, economic, political and social circumstances. However, the EU holds a commendable history of regional integration from which other regions in the world can draw some best practices. On this basis, this chapter focuses on human mobility and analyses how migration in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region is managed. The chapter posits that, granted the different historical backgrounds underpinning regional integration between the SADC and EU, the former could still draw some best practices around the management of human mobility between its member states.
