ABSTRACT

Organizational culture is an increasingly important topic in management for organizations inserted in the global VUCA environment seeking to optimize benefits and minimize costs of continuous unavoidable disruptions. In this environment, the HRM and similar approaches considering humans as an organizational resource are failing. The HRM concept, created a century ago to meet demands of the industrial revolution, is no longer effective and it is causing surmounting harm to people and organizations alike. This chapter elaborates extensively on causes and effects pressing the need for transformation and deployment of Human Centered Management (HCM) aligned with a complementary model of sustainable quality management probed to serve organizations in all industries, sectors and nations. HCM thrives enhancing people’s wellbeing in the workplace, stimulating work engagement and optimizing people’s talent to innovate as necessary condition to attain long-term organizational sustainability under uncertain conditions.
