ABSTRACT

People with disabilities (PWD) experience many barriers to full citizenship within corporate communities and are denied more opportunities than those who are not disabled. Their inclusion is often coerced ignoring the essential moral task of building community in organizations. This chapter presents Aristotelian virtue ethics, as a dynamic theory of business, addressing the value of virtues in business, and the application of Universal Design for ensuring the development of human centered organizations. The chapter provides insight into how organizations can become more sustainable through adopting ethically motivated approaches during the pre-employment and employment phases and develop an inclusive organizational culture. Organizations wanting to develop Human Centered Management should consider these virtuous practices for the benefit of their organizations, PWD and broader society.
