ABSTRACT

This epilogue revisits the main themes of this volume and elaborates on the key contributions of the book towards understanding the shifting relationship between families and housing. The chapter arranges its discussions around the dual functions of housing as places to live (homes) and as investment vehicles (real estate) in understanding the variegated opportunities and barriers they present families, as well as the commonalities and differences across contexts. The chapter concludes with considerations of where we go from here, with attention given to the emerging outcomes of the Covid pandemic and its potential wide-ranging influence on the ways in which families and housing systems interact.
