ABSTRACT

The ongoing migration crisis, the globalisation of human trafficking, and the substantive reformation of European Union (EU) policy of external and internal security have led to the creation of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency. The complexity of the economic and social situation in the Mediterranean region remains a serious factor of influence for international and European politics and security strategies. The growth of global migration, including irregular migration, relates to the explosion of international organised crime networks and their influence. Those observed trends led to a growing policy of the securitisation of migration control. The “Captain Europe” team was enlarged, very adequately, by the creation of various specialists’ profiles for officers, whose tasks and requirements were drafted. Captain Europa's team requires the ability to skilfully carry out preventive measures of border control in full compliance with the standards of protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms, with respect for separateness of religious and cultural aspects of their subordinates.
