ABSTRACT

The Kingdom of Morocco carries out one of the most effective anti-terrorist policies in the Arab world. It is also, as evidenced by the low terrorism threat rates, one of the safest countries in the region in this respect. According to the Global Terrorism Index (GTI), Morocco was ranked 102nd among 163 countries surveyed in 2020 with a GTI of 0.565. Morocco is the infamous number one producer of hash and marijuana. It is also on the cannabis route, which is then smuggled into Europe. In Morocco, the main responsibility for carrying out border checks at ports of entry such as Mohammed V airport in Casablanca lies with the General Directorate of National Security. The anti-terrorist law in force in Morocco was passed on May 28, 2003, on the basis of the dahir (royal decree) and published in the Moroccan official journal on June 5, 2003.
