This case study traces the life of Vivian Winona Pinn, MD and how the narrative of her life shaped and defined the domain of research on women's health, and how her leadership propelled curricular changes in medicine. Over decades, this physician's exemplary openness to the opportunities presented to her allowed her to differentiate her research focus in unique and ground-breaking ways.
