ABSTRACT

On September 6, 2018, New Delhi hosted the first version of US–India 2+2 Dialogue. The highlight of the meeting was the signing of COMCASA by India, which is one of the four key defence partnership agreements considered foundational by the United States for developing a robust military relationship with any country. The signing of the agreement created quite a buzz among Delhi’s foreign policy circles about growing synergy between India and the United States. This chapter analyses the reasons for increasing proximity between the two countries, the opportunities it presents for them and the implications of such relationship internationally.
