ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the women’s preference for making a career in politics and the barriers they face. This chapter also looks into women’s opinion on the reservation of seats for women and the impact of more women leaders in the political sphere. It also identifies the expectations and preferences of women vis-à-vis politics and how accessible the political process is for them. An attempt is made to understand what encourages the participation of women or obstructs it and what influences their viewpoints. Their opinions on the reservation of seats for women is also looked at and analyzed.
