ABSTRACT

Group play therapy can be a powerful agent of change for children being treated in outpatient settings. Group play therapy is effective for children as young as preschool aged throughout the developmental span of childhood, including adolescence. In outpatient group work, employing an integrative, prescriptive model of treatment is recommended. This chapter will describe ways to implement group therapy in an outpatient setting, as well as provide a case example of employing outpatient group work with elementary-aged children.
