ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses a conceptual framework that integrates the socialization, externalization, combination, internalization (SECI) knowledge creation model and Japanese Lesson Study (LS) for school organisations to analyse curriculum management. The framework can be applied to improve school-based teacher training mechanisms and develop teaching knowledge for implementing the school-based curriculum. LS can be conceptualised as structural capital of schools. An empirical survey was conducted in Japan to verify the LS can create school intellectual capital.
