ABSTRACT

It was my good fortune that I got to meet Maaji. After spending such a long time with her, I had begun to understand her to some extent. It was, of course difficult to know everything about her. But I had begun to figure out the outer layer of her behaviour. She did not quarrel with anyone, nor did she speak ill of anybody, unless and until they said something bad. Until then, she would not answer back. Gradually I too developed this habit. Her daily routine was a bit strange. She woke up late and did everything else later than usual. That was because she went to her study at 10 o’clock at night, where she either read or wrote something late into the night. During the night between 3 and 4 o’clock, I served her tea and biscuits.
