ABSTRACT

Management education (ME) is well suited to provide insights into the future deployment and adoption of technology to enhance and improve learner experience at scale due to its focus on nurturing and supporting experimentation in teaching and learning. Artificial intelligence (AI) is one technology that promises more personalized responsive learning experiences, which learners often demand, and business schools struggle to offer, due to large cohort sizes and limited resources. This chapter outlines how AI can be used in ME to provide such personalized responsive learning experience. It considers the changing roles and opportunities for co-deployment of management educators and technology and explores how AI may support ME delivery formats and align with relevant teaching philosophies. Specific aspects dealt with in the chapter include the role of learning formats and facilitators, the contributions of the management educators and AI management educators (AIMEs), and the collaborative relationship between learners, management educators, and AIMEs. The chapter concludes that personalized responsive learning can be achieved by utilizing AI in collaboration with management educators and learners. We offer suggestions for implementation including how management educators can utilize different teaching philosophies (pedagogy, andragogy, heutagogy) to meet the needs of individual learners in a variety of ME contexts.
