ABSTRACT

Science has been defined as “an objective, logical, and systematic method of analysis of phenomena, devised to permit the accumulation of reliable knowledge”. With respect to psychology and social science, the most important words here may be “systematic” (following a plan that helps to assure accuracy), “phenomena” (focusing to a considerable extent on observable events), and “accumulation” (considering events in the developing context of other information). All of these require empirical work of observation and analysis of differences between individuals and groups.
