ABSTRACT

Post-romanticism is increasingly being seen as an important way of exploring what is changing in the people lives with regard to love, sex and intimacy. This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book presents the interesting view that romance is essentially an adult form of fairy tale which serves the same purpose of processing of conflicts and trauma but runs the risk of turning murderous when the image created 'threatens to have a life of its own. It engages with the topic of polyamory in a careful and unprejudiced way, illustrating both its psychological and social advantages and disadvantages. The book provides thoughtful guidelines and case material for practitioners who work with polyamorous individuals, couples or triads.
