ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews the action items proposed by other authors in this book and provides some ideas and principles that are key to implementation. It begins by providing several steps that may be necessary when planning to implement a new measurement system, drawing on the standard principles of execution in strategic planning, leadership, and collaborative community development projects. We also explore typical obstacles – there will be solutions to every challenge, but we need to acknowledge them and plan for a response so that they do not become “death threats,” or significant impediments to change. In this chapter, we attempt to explore the following questions and provide pathways to solving them: in building resilience, if not us, whom and why? If us, how? The process of measurement emphasizes our interconnectedness and provides an opportunity to better define the steps we need to undertake, individually and collectively, towards resilience.
