ABSTRACT

Yasmeen Lari is Pakistan’s first woman architect. She graduated from Oxford Brookes University, UK, in 1963. She established Lari Associates in 1964 and took on the challenges of practice as an architect dealing with issues in an industrially less developed country – from mud buildings, low-income housing and improvements in informal settlements, to state of the art buildings. She retired from architectural practice in 2000 to devote her time to writing and humanitarian and heritage-related work.
