ABSTRACT

In these times of global warming and technology-aided devastation of the earth characterized by consumerist lifestyles, erosion in moral and spiritual values, widespread environmental degradation and destruction with simmering violence and brutality, the idea and the attitude of eco-spirituality becomes relevant. This article discusses the works of Sri Aurobindo and Gandhi. The chapter reveals the inherent need of leading life by upholding spiritual values as has been evident in the lives of both Sri Aurobindo and Mohandas Karam Chand Gandhi. This spiritual attitude to life would help us overcome our current environmental and developmental crises and cultivate pathways of a new self, culture and civilization which is simultaneously poetic, ecological and spiritual.
