ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an overview of South Asia region. It further elaborates on the international experiences on the regional integration by various regional economic blocs and initiatives taken by the South Asian region in this regards. Subsequently, it discusses the opportunities and challenges for South Asian regional integration. The South Asian regional integration is discussed in the light of recent developments where the concept of Economic Regionalism which is a key to openness and growth has thus seen much resistance. It sets the backdrop to understand the various dimensions of South Asian Integration and help readers appreciate its unique nature and complexity.
