ABSTRACT

Emotions research has become an established field of inquiry in science education over the last 10–15 years. A subset of this work addresses the role of emotions in learning and teaching science, providing scope to inform science teacher education. This chapter presents a review of studies of the emotions in preservice and in-service science teacher education. The review focuses on some of the more extensively researched topics while also ensuring that a diversity of areas of inquiry is represented. The chapter provides readers new to the study of emotions with sufficient direction and grounding in the field to pursue the topic further in the preparation of science teachers.
