Artists have enough inspiration and creativity to imagine and convey the future ahead of time. An artist interprets and gives a meaning to the present and expresses artist's imagination in relation to it. The artist is a visionary who recounts a possible future, engaging in a dialogue with the public through the symbolic nature of artist's work. The ability to create new meanings is a feature of imagination and creativity. For the Italian philosopher Umberto Galimberti, creativity is divergent thinking, the transgression of rules and of shared rationality. Behind all creativity is the sacrifice of the creator, who descends into the prerational abyss and thence infers something profoundly new. Imagination is therefore at the border between reason and madness. Imagination has this extraordinary ability: it allows an individual to mentally anticipate a situation that has not yet entered the visual field.
