ABSTRACT

Complex and rapidly changing environments require open and flexible structures to allow for reorientation and radical change, and sometimes just allowing mere survival. In a complex environment, companies absolutely need strategic flexibility: the ability to quickly modify competitive priorities, the ability to quickly move from one business to another, the availability of viable strategic options and the availability of potentially scalable businesses. A flexible company must necessarily implement organizational structures and processes suited to a scenario which is increasingly turbulent, uncertain, unstable and unpredictable, a scenario where it becomes difficult to plan and schedule in the medium and long term. Strategic flexibility as the availability of potentially new businesses are clearly linked to the innovation of the business model. Amid complexity and turbulence, the future consists of a combination of a number of factors.
