ABSTRACT

Writing a results section in APA format can be one of the drier and more complicated parts of an experimental write-up. It really depends on your knowledge and comfort level with statistics. The results section is essentially an overview of the statistical results of your research. This section typically involves two main types of statistics, descriptive (such as means, medians, modes, and standard deviations) and inferential (such as ANOVAs, t-tests, and chi-squares), along with a few charts and graphs to help display your results in a visual manner. The experienced journal reader might jump right to the results section because that is where the proof is of whether or not your study worked.
