ABSTRACT

As students begin their research methods course—or perhaps even before classes begin—there are often feelings of angst or anxiety felt toward what the class itself will be like. Hopefully, your professor provides you with the course syllabus before your initial class session. If so, it is highly advisable to look this over thoroughly before your first day, as it will contain most (if not all) of the information you will need to know moving forward. If not, your professor will most likely give you one in class during your first meeting. Your class syllabus, along with some other things, will help immensely in preparing for a successful term. This includes reviewing your course textbook and other required materials, as well as your learning management website. As you start class sessions, it may also be helpful to begin establishing relationships with a few of your peers who you would like to work with, not only for your experimental project, but also in case you miss any days of class.
