This chapter introduces From Networks to Netflix by situating the diverse distributional economies of broadcast, cable, satellite, and streaming television within a process of interconnected industry transformation. The free streaming service Pluto TV provides a productive first case study through its position at the intersection of legacy television strategies and emerging digital platforms.
