ABSTRACT

Clothes should be as light as possible without sacrificing warmth. It is a matter of importance to people who have sometimes none too much money to renew things, that people get things which will be most serviceable, and will look well after being worn a while, as well as at first. A really good material made up into quite a plain dress looks far more lady-like, and is much more serviceable, than the same amount spent on a large amount of flimsy stuff and trimmings, which looks limp and tawdry directly. Good material will often stand making up over again when it begins to look shabby in places, and now that two or more materials or colours are used in the dress, it is easy to freshen a dress up without much expense, if the dress to begin with was good.
