ABSTRACT

This conclusion first summarizes several topics of concern that the chapter authors discussed in a joint conversation regarding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on women, minorities, and vulnerable populations, highlighting issues from a feminist communication and media scholarship lens in Chapter 11: What Is Happening Here? Second, this conclusion pulls together three main threads that are woven through the ten individual chapters and exemplify feminist scholarship: the impact of community connections; the importance of longitudinal deep analysis to generate and advance theory; and the willingness of scholars to take stock of their own shortcomings in method and theory through self-reflection. Last, the conclusion closes with a call to take intersectionality seriously—an overarching theme that binds these threads, all contributors, and this book together.
