ABSTRACT

This chapter takes a closer look at the available digital tools. The chapter is divided into the following categories: search and keep track of information, annotate and write together, and demonstrate mastery. We take a closer look at how to use mind maps and notebooks and how to save everything in the cloud. We look at different search engines and how to narrow your search results and bookmark pages. Co-writing is easy in a digital classroom, and students can share documents on multiple platforms. The process can easily be monitored by the teacher for clarification and correction. Research shows that peer assessment has a positive effect on student outcomes. If digital technology is used wisely, it can provide new ways of obtaining information about how students are working and where they are in their learning process. Many learning management systems offer this. We take a closer look at the many ways students can demonstrate mastery. Students can engage in relevant issues, sharing a voice in discussions and communicating with a wide audience with blogs, video, podcasts, and game-based classroom response systems.
