ABSTRACT
The threat of nuclear war, which is not just North Korea but all over, now that’s a common issue. Charlie Identity politics seems to suggest the structure of power is as much organized around racial hierarchies or gender hierarchies as it is around class hierarchy. It affects civil rights, human rights, gay rights, everything else. There were people drawn in on the basis of race, white supremacy and others, but much of it is essentially rural, which can mean industrial, moderately affluent, mostly petite bourgeois demographic base. Part of it is just that he's making it possible for sections of the population to come forward with views that they've always held but felt repressed that they shouldn't say because what's called, interestingly, political correctness, which means don't be an overt racist. The most radical general popular movement that ever developed in the United States began with Texas farmers.
