ABSTRACT
The Covid-19 outbreak has had an enormous influence on sport with thousands of events postponed or canceled. While sports fans are currently experiencing a depressing situation, many of them do not sit on their hands. This chapter analyzes the real mass mobilization of Polish football fans who stepped in to help stop the spread of the disease in their communities. It became a point of honor to the fan groups to encourage and organize people to aid hospitals and individuals by supplying the health system with food and hygiene products. Numerous volunteers joined such actions, including members of fan associations from different cities. Selected initiatives (e.g., “Without You There Won’t Be Us”) and fundraisers are discussed. In addition to interviews and media reports, the research revealed in this chapter is largely based on the analysis of the social media activity of the fans.
