ABSTRACT

The wider regeneration of New Islington in Manchester has been achieved by a 20-year commitment from Urban Splash who took on the challenge of transforming the failing Cardroom Estate into an urban district that is, once again, a popular place to live. Urban Splash had plenty of experience of the challenges of delivering construction in dense urban environments and was always seeking to find new ways to improve development. Designed by architects shedkm, long-term Urban Splash collaborators, the scheme has been under development since 2016 and is the first to be delivered under the House brand, creating new build family houses in dense urban environments, harnessing the benefits of factory-based production. Returning to where the journey began with their next project, Urban Splash will be delivering more town house terraces at New Islington.
