ABSTRACT

One of the most notable international modular projects of recent years is Clement Canopy in Singapore. The development of the Clement Canopy project was a joint venture between Singland Homes Pte Ltd and UOL Group Ltd, which is one of the leading public-listed property companies in Singapore with a diversified portfolio of development and investment properties, hotels and serviced suites. The prefinished prefabricated volumetric construction concrete (PPVC) carcasses with embedded M&E service pipes were all manufactured in Johor, Malaysia, which is just a stone’s throw across the Singapore Causeway. In Singapore where there is high population density, there is a need to reduce reliance on foreign labour. In order to achieve this objective without compromising on quality and speed of construction, the implementation of offsite PPVC modularisations to construction projects which enhances environmental impact and workers’ safety is proving to be a viable solution.
