Introduction

It was a symposium organised in the wake of the worldwide debates on the collapse of the Soviet Union and the East European regimes. It began as a series of annual symposiums/seminars/workshops organised by AIPF till today. At that time, in 2008, the AIPF was not yet formally involved, though the organisers were more or less those associated with it. Later, the workshops began to be organised by and in the name of AIPF, sometimes in association with the NRRR Centre.
