ABSTRACT

Climate change has already appeared as one of the greatest challenges facing the world. The staggering effects of climate change are putting stress on human life in diverse ways. In response, people around the world, especially in the developing and the least developed countries (LDCs), are struggling to adapt to the changed environmental circumstances. However, the adaptive capacity is not limitless. Since 1990, many scientific reports and international organisations including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) warn that climate-induced environmental degradations are likely to trigger migratory movements around the world, both within and across borders. 1
